Deborah is an accomplished musician and has been studying the Cello since the age of 4. She plays both acoustic and electric cello, and studied music at St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh (Orchestra, Chamber Music, String Quartet), National Youth Training Orchestra, and with private teachers including Alasdair Mitchell and Helen Hale. Deborah plays to professional standard, reads music fluently (treble, bass & tenor clefs), has her Grade 5 theory, and has taught cello for private beginners and orchestral cello sections.

Deborah has played Cello as a soloist; on stage in plays; with Orchestras in Edinburgh, Newcastle and Prague; and with several rock bands as a session musician. She also plays other instruments at an intermediate level including piano and keyboards, percussion and recorder.  She also conducts, composes and transcribes music.

Deborah is an excellent singer with a strong, warm, Mezzo-Soprano voice. She has sung in styles as diverse as Opera, folk, musical theatre, and with various rock bands as a vocalist and backing singer. She also regularly sings with an alternative choir at the Vocal Institute in West London.
