
Deborah reviews plays, musicals, operettas and children's theatre and is a regular contributor to both The Public Reviews and Remote Goat. She also spent four years reviewing for the publication Three Weeks at the Edinburgh Festival (both the Fringe & International Festivals).
Deborah has recently co-written the play eXclusion with friend and colleague Ali Kemp, which will premiere at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival and is produced in association with UK charity Women in Prison. She is also an professional actress, singer, musician and voiceover artist.
Additionally, Deborah is a talented writer of stage plays, film scripts, poetry, and childrens stories. She took part in the Traverse Theatre's 'Class Act' Competition in 1994 and her first play, "Janetarium", was subsequently performed at the Traverse and published in Theatre Scotland Magazine. She went on to be part of the Traverse Theatre's Young Writers Project and has taken writing masterclasses with David Greig and David Harrower. Since then, Deborah has continued to write for a variety of projects, penning poetry & short stories for theatrical productions, a short radio drama, monologues, short film scripts, and song lyrics for Edinburgh band Stigma.
In 2005, Deborah wrote the play Eve & Lilith for the Edinburgh Festival in collaboration with Finnish actress Jessica Martenson. Deborah & Jessica co-founded Absolute Finnloch Theatre and produced & performed the play, receiving positive reviews & playing to sold-out audiences. With the poet's kind permission, Deborah incorporated selected poems from Michelene Wandor's "Garden Of Eden Revisited" into the Eve & Lilith script.
